Why turnovers make or break reviews

Cleanliness is one of the categories guests rate on Airbnb, and it shows up in written reviews more than almost anything else. A consistent turnover routine protects your ratings.

Bedrooms

• Strip and remake every bed with fresh linens.
• Check under beds and in drawers for left-behind items.
• Dust nightstands, lamps and headboards.
• Stage extra blankets and pillows.

Bathrooms

• Clean and sanitize toilet, sink, tub and shower.
• Replace towels and fold them the same way every time.
• Restock toilet paper, soap and toiletries.
• Check for hair on floors and in drains.

Kitchen & living areas

• Run and unload the dishwasher.
• Wipe appliances, including inside the microwave and fridge.
• Empty all trash and recycling.
• Reset furniture to match your listing photos.
• Vacuum and mop all floors.

Before you lock up

• Check the thermostat and lights.
• Note any damage or missing items for the host.
• Take quick photos for your records.
